Sanyin Siang is the founding executive director of the Fuqua/Coach K Center on Leadership & Ethics
(COLE) at Duke Unviersity’s Fuqua School of Business and a professor at its Pratt School of Engineering..
She is a CEO Coach, Board Director, and author of The Launch Book. She is also a LinkedIn Influencer
with more than 1 million followers who recognized as one of LinkedIn’s 2017 and 2018 Top 20 Global
Influencer Voices. In July 2019, she was recognized as one of 8 nominees for the inaugural Thinkers50
Global Coaching & Mentoring Award.
Her expertise in strategic planning, partnerships, and leader development, coupled with an
understanding of the millennial and Gen Z mindsets and social media and innovation strategies, has
helped organizations and sr. executives identify gaps and lead more effectively in a rapidly changing
marketplace and talent space. She convenes interdisciplinary and diverse think teams towards finding
and implementing new approaches for complex problems. She works with generals, Fortune 500 CEOs,
multigenerational family business leaders, and tech startup founders.
Sanyin’s mission in life is to enable greatness in others. She lives out this mission as an educator, board
director, mom, connector, leadership coach and advisor.
Under her leadership, the COLE center is a premier leadership laboratory with programming that serves
all of Duke’s Daytime MBA students and convenes think tank gatherings across sectors to explore
today’s complex leadership challenges and create positive impact for society. Through her work in
working with different generations, and sectors, she has been able to draw on patterns to develop
insights for organizational success.
Sanyin currently serves on the boards of the Museum of Life & Science where she chairs its Governance
& Nominating Committee and The Emily Krzyzewski Center. She is an advisory board member for the US
Congressional Award, the highest award for youth legislated and presented by the United States Congress
and Sports Innovation Lab, a sports tech startup co-founded by Olympian Angela Ruggiero. She also serves
as an advisor for Ripcord and GV (formerly Google Ventures).
Her thought leadership has appeared in NYTimes, Forbes, Fortune, and The Wall Street Journal. She is
also a 2018 Thinkers50 on the Radar member and a member of the 86th Joint Civilian Orientation
Conference. She has spoken to audiences ranging from The White House to The Global Sports Summits.
With a background in STEM, she has served on the editorial boards of Remedica’s Clinical Researcher
Journal, the American Bar Association’s Science & Technology Law Section Newsletter and American
Association for the Advancement of Science’s Professional Ethics Report and was co-chair of the Info-
Structure Security Dialogue.
She is the author of the award winning The Launch Book: Motivational Stories for Launching Your Idea,
Business, or Next Career, which inspires readers through stories of different leaders and gives them an
action plan for leveraging change using behavioral science concepts.
Sanyin received her MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in 2002 and her BSE in
biomedical engineering from its Engineering School in 1996 where she was an Angier B. Duke Scholar.
