Sir Martin Sorrell spent 33 years of his life growing WPP, a small British manufacturer of wire shopping baskets worth 1 million pound, into the world’s greatest advertising and marketing services company. When he left in 2018, the company employed more than 100,000 people and was worth more than 16 billion pounds .
The ad mogul was the longest-serving chief executive of a FTESE100 company. In 2018, Sir Martin left WPP to start over with S4 Capital, a modern, digital advertising agency. Now, he will apply his knowledge of marketing, strategy, mergers and acquisitions to successfully build an advertising company fit for the new era.
Sir Martin Sorrell has also been honoured for his great achievements. In 2000, he was knighted and in 2007 he was awarded the Harvard Business School’s highest honour, the Alumni Achievement Award.
